Seagrass Music Society is proud to present three outdoor recitals as a part of the organization’s Piano Diaries concert series this summer. Pianists Rachel Kiyo Iwaasa, Róisín Adams, and Aslan Aslanov will each perform a FREE sunset concert in some of East Vancouver’s most beloved and beautiful park spaces.
As in 2021, the artists will present works inspired by a list of prompts such as “music that encapsulates your pandemic experience,” or “music that you didn’t like at first but grew on you” or even “music that hurts to play, in the best kind of way.” What’s different this summer is that the music presented by the three pianists will be a variety of works outside of the general classical music canon, as well as some improvisatory music written by the artists themselves.
The pianists will perform on an upright acoustic Baldwin piano placed strategically in beautiful corners of each park.
Seagrass welcomes audiences to bring snacks and refreshments that might pair well with the music, as well as a blanket, chair, or whatever else might make the experience more comfortable.
Join Rachel Kiyo Iwaasa for her recital on July 20th at Burrard View Park. Attendance is free and accessible to all. See map here for exact location: https://goo.gl/maps/hdTSmUJqG4ASt2pe8
